I love this Brooke and there’s great psychology behind sitting with your feelings rather than struggling with them or listening to them. But to look at your reactions as something the younger you did is a great technique that I’m going to borrow. As I grow older I’ve noticed there’s a lot of things I care less about (like what people think of me!) as I gradually gain the confidence to embrace the true version of me.

Hope your recovery is going smoothly 🤗💚

I love this Brooke. Thanks for sharing such a valuable insight. I am discovering there is genuine power and confidence to be had with age. Caring less about what others think and worrying less is difficult but needs to be saved for the big life events not the everyday things.

I hope you are resting and taking time to heal ❤️

I really love how you gave praise to your younger self in this post Brooke. In the reverse, I often think about what I can do for future Alison, but I so rarely give thanks to past Alison. Mostly only reprimands. I really like all of your phrasing in this post. It's really freeing and positive.

I hope so much that your surgery went well and that you are resting up and recovering splendidly 🥰

I think this is great Brooke, getting bored of your own bullshit, externalising the problem -“The Nerves” and reframing the behaviour as something you used to do is such a powerful way to take the wind out of anxiety!!

Maybe these realisations are the silver lining of having to take time out to recover. Hope you are doing well and feel better soon 💐❤️🥰

I started teaching yoga late and get nervous before - and sometimes during - every class I teach. I have no magic pill (though ashgavanda helps!). What allows me to get out of my own way is knowing that students have come to class to do yoga and to leave their mat feeling better about themselves and about life in general - this then is my mission, to bring this about for them. And to do this I have to shrug off my self-consciousness and perform.

Thanks for this and prayers for a good recovery:). I’m curious because I am a reader of your work but not able to remember everything, what brought you into the world of radio interviews so much? Love to connect with you more on this sometime.

Wish you a good and speedy recovery from your surgery.

I love how it sounds so simple (nut not at all easy) to just decide that a habit or pattern is not a part of yourself anymore. I kind of did the same now when I started writing here. I decided that I will post every Sunday, and now I have been sticking to the habit for a few posts, and I am writing a lot more than I did before. In fact, I'm writing almost every day. The shift happens when you decide that something is in the past, and decide that you can be another version of yourself. So powerful.

Oh calling out the bullshit - absolutely Brooke! Those old stories are holding us back! We are such an evolving being and I love that also, somewhere in there, is a celebration of how far we have come. Good on you and thanks for the reminder.

This song perhaps?!
