Thanks for the Lovejoy recommendation. They are great and remind me of Franz Ferdinand and Artic Monkeys. It's great to share music with my kids, I took them to a gig a while ago, it was the best night!
Lots of great tips about food waste, thanks Brooke 👍 we always pack up leftovers in one-person sized portions so any one of us can “grab and go”. We use a wax pencil (stays on until washed with warm water) to write the date and label the contents so we can see how old they are. We freeze if not eaten within a day or so. IKEA’s round bowls with clip in lid are awesome and I also use the 700g straight sided olive jars, especially for soups or upside down salads.
In our municipality we have to compost. There was a program to get the Food cycler - an on the counter composite machine thst makes diet ina few hours - a few years ago and it changed my life. Composting is hard in the winter under the cold and snow and this makes it easier. I get very excited about making dirt.
I am working very hard to only buy the produce we will need and to look local and in season when possible. (Again hard with such a short growing season).
We have a ‘fridge cleaner’ meal on a Sunday night before we get our vege box delivered. It can be a completely random assortment or we make it into a poke bowl!
If my pixies complain we tell them it is the most sustainable meal of the week as it reduces waste!

Thank you. Great reminders! (Also my teen introduced me to Lovejoy during her Minecraft Dream SMP era!)

Thanks for the tips.
Lots of inspiration in the “Use It All” cookbook too:
