Hi mates,
A quick note before we begin. I’m still technically on leave as I recover from my surgery, but today’s letter was written this week (from bed, in little spurts) because I really wanted to connect with you. It might be a bit all over the place, and if it is, I’m sorry!
My plan is to shift back to work gradually, starting next week, but at this stage I’m just not 100% certain of how that will go. Recovery is meant to be a six-week process, so if my letters are delayed or a little loose over the next couple of weeks, it’s because I’m still tilting into healing.
Thanks for hanging in there with me.

PS. No voiceovers for a little while. Sorry!
Well, February came, she steamrolled, she left, and in her wake, I can honestly say: that month was quite a year.
Broadly, it means summer has officially ended here in Australia (and what a strange old summer it was) and we begin the slow shift into autumn. I savour different parts of all the seasons, but I really do love the crisp mornings, the gradual turning of leaves from green to gold to red, the incredible sunsets, the chilly nights and the constant question of when exactly will we light the first fire of the year? (My money is on April 6 which is probably optimistic.)
More personally, it also means my surgery is over, and I’m two weeks into my recovery. Everything went well, and while recovery is challenging, I’m doing what I consider to be a pretty good job of healing. Which is to say I’m reminding myself to be patient, I’m tilting hard into rest, and I’m allowing the work I did before my operation to rain its delightful benefits on us. (Freezing a bunch of meals ahead of time was an excellent decision.)
